Sustainable Lockup
My name is Jennifer Sandoval and I am writing to you today about Sustainable Lockup,  a project I am working on with Green Spark Group  and Keep it Green Recycling.  Green Spark Group and Keep it Green Recycling are partnering to provide a service to film and television productions to haul away their reusable set materials and then donate them to charities, other film productions, film schools and other organizations/individuals who could find a use for the materials.  The purpose of the program is to try to reduce waste from film and television productions and divert these materials from ending up in the landfill.
If your organization or its members are interested in obtaining more information about how to access these materials, please go to www.sustainablelockup.com to subscribe to the mailing list.  You will receive periodic updates of all the set materials coming into the warehouse. Individual members could subscribe to the mailing list themselves and receive the updated inventory directly.    See the attached flyer for more details.    Please feel free to forward this email and flyer to any of your members who you think might be interested in learning more.

Treefest 2016
Treefest is a celebration of environmental stewardship focusing on the heritage trees, buildings and landscapes of the Riverview Hospital site in Coquitlam.  The 23rd annual Treefest will be held on Sunday, September 11th from 11 to 4.
The always popular arborist led Tree Tours will be held on the hour.  Well known Vancouver heritage consultant Donald Luxton will lead a tour of some of the Heritage Buildings (exterior only).  Blackberry Tea will be served in the Serenity Garden by Maple Creek Streamkeeper volunteers.  SPARC antique radio museum will be open for visitors.  History Bus Tours will feature people who have interesting stories to tell of their time working or living at Riverview/Essondale.  The bus will also do a run to Finnie’s Garden with a stop at the SPARC radio museum on the way.  Bus seating is limited and can be reserved with a $2 donation.
Since 1992 the Riverview Horticultural Centre Society has worked to increase public awareness of the Riverview Lands in Coquitlam.  The goal has been to have the site preserved for its historical use of supporting people with mental illness along with horticultural education, retention of urban green space and public community uses.
The public process conducted by BC Housing has continued this year.  The future of the Riverview site is still very uncertain.  Riverview has historically been a sanctuary for the mentally ill and it is hoped that it can once again be a refuge for people living with mental health issues.
The festival site is accessible from the Lougheed Highway at Colony Farm Road or Orchid Drive entrances.  Maps are available at rhcs.org.  Banners and signs will mark the way to the festival site adjacent to the Henry Esson Young (H.E.Y.) Building. For more info visit www.coquitlam.ca/treefest or call 604-927-3583  or  604-290-9910.
